Bodies of 2 fishermen recovered from Meghna River

Police have recovered the bodies of two fishermen from the Meghna River at Monpura upazila in Bhola district on Sunday. 

One body was found in the morning near Master's Haat in Uttar Sakuchia union, while the other was recovered later in the day from Kawar Tek area in Monpura union.

The deceased were Bellal Hossain, 25, from Dewanpur village in Tajumuddin upazila, and Alauddin, 30, from Sonarchar village in Monpura upazila. Their families confirmed the identities of the deceased.

The fishermen had been missing since Friday (September 20) when their fishing trawler capsized during bad weather in Bhola. On Sunday, locals spotted the bodies floating in different parts of the river and alerted the authorities. 

Monpura Police officer-in-charge Md Zahurul Islam confirmed the recovery and added that they have been handed over to the families as no complaints were lodged. 

However, two unnatural death cases have been filed at Monpura police station in these regards, added the OC.
