Two killed in Jhenidah road accident

Two people were killed and another injured in a road accident on the Jhenidah-Chuadanga highway in Jhenidah Sadar upazila on Tuesday.

The accident took place around 4:50am in Sadhuhati area under the upazila.
The victims were Anisur Rahman, 65, a resident of Baro Kaunia village and Farukh Matubbar, 45, hailed from Bhawal village under Saltha upazila of Faridpur district.

Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Shaheen Uddin said the accident occurred when a Meherpur-bound mini truck from Faridpur hit another truck from the opposite direction, leaving two people dead on the spot and injuring another.

The injured was taken to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital, the OC said.

Later, police recovered the bodies and handed over those to their respective families, added the OC.
