He was detained at about 11:30am on Tuesday (September 24).
Lt Col Md Ariful Islam, Dinajpur BGB sector commander, confirmed the matter, saying that BSF personnel Upal Kumar Das was detained at Birol frontier at about 11:30am.

According to the BGB, the BSF personnel crossed the zero line of the international boundary near Pillar number 334/sub-pillar 6, entering Bangladesh without authorisation.
