During a joint operation at Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj, the law enforcers have arrested two robbers along with local weapons while preparing for a robbery on Monday night.

The suspects, Shah Poran and Shah Ali, from Koltapara village, were arrested late Monday night from the village at Jamapur union.

After the arrest, they were handed over to Sonargaon Police Station on Tuesday morning, where a robbery case was filed against them and eventually they were presented in a court.

Confirming the matter, officer-in-charge of the police station Md. Abdul Bari said that a group of 10-12 robbers was getting ready to launch a robbery in Koltapara area around 2 AM. A joint patrol team consisting of army and police personnel was patrolling the area when the robbers tried to flee. Two of them were caught by army personnel, and weapons like machetes, hockey sticks, and knives were recovered from them.

Later, sub-inspector Md. Shahadat Hossain filed a case against them and later they were sent to jail following an order from Narayanganj court.

Locals have alleged that Shah Poran and Shah Ali are part of a notorious gang led by Nuru, known for various criminal activities, including robbery, extortion, and theft, especially after the departure of Sheikh Hasina.
