Two cousins drowned in a haor at Bishwambarpur upazila in Sunamganj district on Saturday.
The incident took place in the afternoon on Karchar haor near Radhanagar village under the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Md Arafat Taj, 5, son of Monwar Hossain, and his cousin Yunus Mia, 5, son of Fazlul Islam. They both were resided at Radhanagar village.
According to the family members, the duo was playing around their house in the afternoon and drowned in the adjacent haor unbeknownst to his family members.
While searching for them, the family members found their floating bodies in the haor and recovered them as dead.
Bishwambarpur Police Station officer-in-charge Kawsar Alam confirmed the deaths and said that the bodies were handed over to the families after the completion of legal procedures.
