Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) destroyed narcotics worth Tk 35 crore at the ground of BGB-58 Battalion headquarters in Khalishpur under Maheshpur upazila of Jhenidah district on Saturday.
The drugs were seized at different raids since March 14 of 2023 to January 2024, said the media wing of BGB-58.
Kushtia BGB sector commander Col Maruful Abedeen, BGB-58 captain Lt Col Shah Md Azizus Shaheed, Chief Judicial Megistrate Joyonto Bishwas, District Narcotics Directorate officer Golak Majumder, Additional Superintendent of Police (Kotchandpur Circle) Munna Biswas were present at the programme.
The estimated market value of the destroyed drugs, include 49,080 bottles of local and foreign liquor, 12,463 bottles of Indian phensidyl, 76 kg of hemp, 871 yaba pills, is Tk 35 crore, added the media wing.
