The bodies of two missing brothers, who were swept away by flash floodwaters at Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur, have been found in a submerged paddy field on Saturday.
Police recovered the bodies from the crop field in Kutubakura village of Nanni union in the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Hatem Ali, 30, and Alamgir Hossai, 18, sons of late Bashir Uddin from Abhaypur village.
According to locals, the two brothers went missing on Friday after being swept away by the current of flash floodwaters from Chellakhali River. Later, farmers Harun and Sirajul Islam found the bodies in their paddy field in Kutubakura village on Saturday afternoon.
As the news of body discovery quickly spread, neighbors and relatives rushed there and identify the bodies. Police then recovered the bodies from the site.
Nalitabari Police Station officer-in-charge Sanowar Hossain confirmed the recovery, adding that as there was no objection from the family, the bodies were handed over to the family members after completing legal formalities.
