Police recovered the body of a school student from a pond at Bagmara upazila in Rajshahi on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Yamin Islam Sabuj, 16, son of Abdur Razzak from Madhnagar village in Nardash union in the upazila. He was a 10th grade student of Madhnagar High School.
The body was recovered from a pond adjacent to Kast Nangla Government Primary School on Saturday afternoon.
According to locals, Sabuj had a love affair with Akram Hossain's ninth grade daughter of the neighboring Kasto Nangla village. Following the affair, Akram and his men assaulted Sabuj and took away his mobile phone and broke it.
Claiming the incident as murder and demanding the execution of his son's killers, the victim's father said someone had called Sabuj on a mobile phone around 10PM on Friday and since then he went missing.
Meanwhile, the accused Akram Hossain and his family members are absconding since the body recovered.
Locals also alleged that the victim was found with injuries on the right side of his face and an iron rod and a thin chain were found on the bank of the pond.
Confirming the death, Bagmara police station officer-in-charge Touhidul Islam Touhid said being informed, they have recovered the body in the evening and sent it to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Although it was assuming that the incident as murder, but nothing can be said before the autopsy report, added the OC.
