'Human trafficker' among 5 held in Dinajpur

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have arrested five people, including a suspected human trafficker, while trying to trespass into India through border in Dinajpur's Birol upazila and nearby Thakurghaon's Pirganj upazila respectively on Tuesday.

The arrested are suspected human trafficker Goutam Chandra Sarkar, 42, Jibon Kumar Roy, 14, Chayon Kumar, 19, Rony Chandra, 16, and Arjan Chandra Roy, 16.

A media release from BGB-42 Dinajpur Battalion said that a team of the force detained Goutam, Jibon and Chayon while they were trying to intrude into India through Karuliapara border under Dharmapur union of the Birol upazila around 10AM.

Besides, BGB personnel detained Rony and Arjan while they were trying to flee the country through Bbabanipur border in Pirjganj upazila at noon, it reads.

Later, the arrested were handed over to the concerned police stations to take legal action, the release added.
