Housewife's hanging body recovered in M'singh

Police on Wednesday recovered the hanging body of a woman from her in-laws' house in Himmatnagar village under Gauripur upazila in Mymensingh. 

The body of Fatema Khatun, 40, wife of Ujjal Mia and a resident of the same village, was recovered in the morning.

According to locals and police sources, Fatema, originally from Muktagacha upazila, was married to Ujjal Mia about 10 years ago. The couple had no children. Recently, Ujjal married for second time. 

On Tuesday night, Fatema had dinner with the family before going to her room to sleep, while Ujjal slept in a separate room with his second wife.

On Wednesday morning, when Fatema did not respond to knocks at her door, family members broke into the room and found her hanging from the ceiling with a scarf tied around her neck. 

Police arrived at the scene and recovered the body.

Gauripur Police Station officer-in-charge Mirza Mazharul Anwar stated that the body has been sent for autopsy, and an unnatural death case has been filed. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
