JCD activist hacked dead in Rajbari

The incident took place in Purabhita area adjacent to Daulatdia brothel at about 10:30 pm.

The deceased was identified as Faruk Sardar, 26, son of village doctor Shahid Sardar of Mondol Para in Daulatdia Union. He was an activist of the Daulatdia Union unit of JCD.

Family members said some miscreants including Mohon Mondol and Ripon of the area, involved in illegal drug use and gambling threatened for a dire consequence to Faruk as he tried to stop their misdeeds few days ago.

Following this dispute, around 10:00 pm on Saturday, Faruk and his friend Al Amin went to the Daulatdia brothel area and asked Ripon to stop the extortion and the gambling den. In response, Ripon and his men hacked Faruk, leaving him severely injured.

Locals rescued him and took him to the Goaland Upazila Health Complex. Doctors shifted him to Faridpur Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated. He later died at the hospital. 

Mohamad Rakibul Islam, Officer-In-Charge (OC) of Goaland Ghat Police Station, said police is investigating to uncover the motive behind the murder.
