2 killed in Ctg truck-auto rickshaw collision

Two individuals, including a three-year-old girl, were killed and three others injured after a truck collided with a CNG-run auto rickshaw in Banshkhali upazila in Chattogram on Wednesday.

The incident happened at the Natundighi area of Sadhanpur union on the Patiya-Anwara-Bashkhali road.

Nurul Haque Hawladar, in charge of the Ramdas Munshirhat Police Investigation Centre, confirmed the matter.

The deceased were identified as Rashmi Barua, 3, daughter of Saikat Barua from Kalarmarcharra union in Maheshkhali, and Wasif Raihan, 16, son of Nurul Islam Tunu from Panirchhara under Chhoto Maheshkhali nion.

Eyewitnesses reported that the accident happened when the truck carrying gas cylinders collided head-on with the CNG auto rickshaw which was returning to Maheshkhali from Chattogram. The collision resulted the immediate deaths of two passengers.

The three critically injured were rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

Sadhanpur Union Parishad Chairman, KM Salahuddin Kamal, stated that police have seized the truck, but the driver managed to flee the spot.
