The incident took place around 9 AM at a tea shop in Banshtala area of the upazila, confirmed Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Dohar Police Station.
The victim Nazmul Bepari, 25, a resident of Ikrashi village under Raipara nion, was having tea at a local tea stall around 9 AM when three youths arrived on a motorcycle. They attacked Nazmul with sharp weapons, leaving him gravely injured. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Shortly after the incident, army personnel arrived at the scene to assist the police in maintaining order, said Junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the army Zahirul Islam and added that they were at the site to help keeping the situation calm and under control.
OC Rezaul Karim added that Nazmul's body has been sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police are actively working to identify and apprehend all suspects involved.
A murder case is being processed in connection with the incident, according to the police, added the OC.
