Man commits suicide in Kurigram

The deceased was Mominul Islam, 34, son of Musa Ali, a resident of Panimachkuti village under Phulbari Sadar union.

Citing locals, the UP chairman Harun-or-Rashid said Mominul had been suffering from depression as he was unemployed for a long time which caused his family to go through an acute poverty. On Thursday late night, Mominul consumed poison resulting him to fell critically sick.

He was rescued and taken to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex where the physicians reffered him to Lalmonirhat General Hospital. He died at the hospital on Friday morning while undergoing treatment.

He might have took the decision from his depression, said the chairman.

Phulbari Police Station officer-in-charge Monirul Islam confirmed the death.
