Child killed by Patuakhali lightning strike

The incident took place around 11.30 AM at Senior Madrasah area in the upazila sadar.

The deceased was identified as Abu Bakar Siddique, 10, son of Babul Hawlader and a resident of Dashmina village under ward No. 2 of the sadar union. He was a third grade student of Dashmina Government Primary School.

According to locals and family members, Abu Bakar along with his mother was returning home after getting a haircut while a streak of thunderbolts struck them. 

They both were critically injured and taken to Dashmina Upazila Health Complex where the physicians declared Abu Bakar dead.

Dashmina Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Abdul Alim confirmed the death.
