Female pedestrian killed in Barishal road accident

The incident occurred on Friday at around 6 PM in Darogar Hat Bazar area on the Barishal-Banaripara road in Madhabpasha union of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Shuli Begum, 45, from Birmohal village in Gava Ramchandrapur union of Banaripara upazila. She had come here to visit her ailing uncle.

According to locals, Shuli Begum was crossing the road in the evening when a Banaripara-bound CNG coming from Barishal hit her, leaving her critically injured. She was rushed to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal, but she succumbed to her injuries on the way.

Locals managed to seize the CNG and informed the police. 

Confirming the incident, Barishal Metropolitan Police's Airport Station officer-in-charge Zakir Hossain said that they have recovered the body and handed it over to her family. 

"A complaint has been filed by the family and we will take necessary action following an investigation," he added.
