Farmer electrocuted in Noakhali

A fish farmer died from electrocution at Senbag upazila in Noakhali district on Sunday morning.

The incident took place around 7.30 AM at South Rajarampur village under ward No. 2 of Mohammadpur union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Md Jahangir Alam, 50, son of late Abdul Mannan from Tin-pukuria Khajuria Bari area in the village.

According to locals, Jahangir came into contact with a live electric wire when he attempted to switch on an electric pump to irrigate his pond. Family members started searching for him as he didn't returned home after a while and found him body floating in the waterbody.

He was rescued and taken to a local hospital where he was declared as dead by the physicians.

Senbagh Police Station officer-in-charge Mizanur Rahman confirmed the death.
