Husband kills friend over insulting wife

Police have arrested a man accused of killing a man over an insult directed at his wife at Kaliganj upazila in Gazipur district.

Lincoln John Rosario, 38, the primary suspect, allegedly lured the victim Rexi Babu Rosario, 43, to a location, fatally stabbed him, and disposed of his body in a pond.

The District Detective Branch (DB) of Gazipur arrested Lincoln and recovered Rexis decomposed, bagged body three and a half months after the incident. He was then sent to jail following his arrest and confession.

Rexi Babu Rosario, a resident of Daripara village in Kaliganj, went missing on July 10 after receiving a phone call and leaving home, saying he was going to the market. As he didnt return home, his father, Mukul Rosario, reported him missing at Kaliganj Police Station. Later, unidentified callers demanded a ransom of Tk 50 lakh, pretending Rexi had been kidnapped. His family then suspected Lincoln, a former friend, who allegedly orchestrated the kidnapping and murder plot over a personal dispute.

DB Inspector Jahangir Kabir confirmed the arrest, detailing that Lincoln had gone into hiding in Narail, using a false identity to secure work at a fish farm.

Following his arrest on Friday morning, Lincoln revealed the body's location in a pond near the Dhaka-Bhairab railway line, from where it was recovered.

According to police sources, Rexi was teased for his gentle demeanor, which allegedly led to a conflict between him and Lincoln. Lincoln insulted Rexi, calling him derogatory names, to which Rexi responded with remarks about Lincoln's wife. This fueled Lincoln's anger, leading him to allegedly plan and execute Rexi's murder.
