Truck-autorickshaw collision leaves two dead in Sirajganj

A head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a drum truck resulted in deaths of two people at Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj on Saturday.

The accident occurred on Saturday around 3:15 PM at Garadah Old Bus Stand area along the Bogura-Nagarbari highway.
The deceased were identified as Sujon Sheikh, 28, the auto-rickshaw driver and son of Dulal Sheikh from Bonogram, and Bahadur Mia, 30, son of Manik Mia from Jamirta village, both from the same upazila.

Hatkumrul Highway Police sub-inspector Masudur Fahim confirmed the incident. 

He explained that the auto-rickshaw was traveling from Pabna when it collided head-on with an oncoming drum truck near the Garadah Old Bus Stand area. Both victims died on the spot. The truck driver managed to escape, abandoning the vehicle before the police arrived. 

The police have taken necessary actions following the accident, and investigations are ongoing, added the SI.
