Youth beaten to death in Kishoreganj

A youth was beaten to death reportedly for developing an affair with muslim girl at Karimganj upazila in Kishoreganj district.

The incident took place at Nandalia Bhuiyan Bazar on Friday around 9 PM.

Deceased Jeevan Rabidas, 21, was the son of Yoges Ravidas of Barukbazar Chandabari area of Jayka union in the upazila.

According to police and local sources, Jiban sustained critical injuries after being beaten by locals as a news of his relationship with a muslim girl went viral in the area. He was rescued and admitted to Karimganj Upazila Health Complex on Saturday around 3 pm.When Ravi Das' condition deteriorated, he was admitted to President Abdul Hamid Medical College Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Ananti Ravidas, the mother of the deceased, demanded justice and exemplery punishment of the involved.

Karimganj Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Shahab Uddin said that they have recovered the body and sent it to 250-bed General Hospital for autopsy.

"I have not received any written complaint in this regard. Legal actions will be taken upon recieving any complaint," he added.
