Child killed in Noakhali bus accident

The deceased Irene, 13, was daughter of Md. Babul and a resident of Krishnarampur village in Sayan union in the upazila. In the meantime, Irene's younger sister, Akhi, 7, was severely injured in the accident.

The incident occurred around 12:45 PM on Saturday (November 16) in front of Kalikapur High School on Zir Tali to Chandraganj regional highway. 

According to locals, the siblings were on their way to Aminbazar in Amanullahpur union from Nazirpur in Choumuhani Municipality when the collision happened. A bus coming from the opposite direction struck their auto-rickshaw, causing the sisters to be thrown from the vehicle.

Locals rushed the injured girls to Noakhali General Hospital, where doctors pronounced Irene dead. Akhi was transferred to Dhaka for advanced treatment.

Chandraganj Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ruhul Amin confirmed the incident, stating that Irene's body has been placed in the hospital morgue. T

he bus driver fled the scene immediately after the accident and police are working to identify the vehicle. Legal action will be taken once a formal complaint is received.
