A head-on collision between two motorcycles resulted in death of a man at Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat district on Sunday.
The accident occurred on Sunday morning around 9:00 AM on the regional road near Kaltapara in Patgram union.
The deceased, Abul Kalam Azad, 48, was a local businessman and a resident of Lalitarhat village in Kuchlibari union, was heading to his rice milling business at Ufamara bazaar in Burimari union. According to police and eyewitnesses, he left his home around 8:30 AM on his motorcycle. As he approached Kaltapara near Hajiganj bazaar, his motorcycle collided with another coming from the opposite direction. The impact caused him severe head injuries.
Locals immediately rescued and rushed him to Patgram Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Eyewitnesses reported that heavy morning fog might have caused poor visibility, leading to the accident.
Patgram Police Station officer-in-charge Ashrafuzzaman Sarkar confirmed the incident, adding that the deceased's family did not file a formal complaint and the body was handed over to his relatives.
