HSTU official killed in Dinajpur road crash

A laboratory technician at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and his motorcycle on the Dinajpur-Dashmile Highway on Monday.

The accident occurred on Monday at around 3 PM in front of the Palli Bidyut Samiti office in Uttar Gobindapur along the Dinajpur-Dashmile Highway.

The deceased was Abdul Mannan, 44, a resident of Dharmapur Kaliaganj village in Biral Upazila and son of Md. Majedur Rahman.

According to police and HSTU officials, Abdul Mannan was riding his motorcycle when a truck collided head-on with him near the Palli Bidyut Samiti office. He was thrown onto the road and the truck ran over him, killing him instantly. 

Bystanders managed to stop the fleeing truck at a place called Jamtali. The accident caused a temporary disruption in traffic which was later normalized with the assistance of the police and fire service.

Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station officer-in-charge Motiar Rahman confirmed the death.
