A Chattogram court on Tuesday granted two-day remand for a truck driver and his assistant in connection with an attempted murder case involving Anti-Discrimination Students Movement conveners Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam.
Chattogram Judicial Magistrate Court-4 Judge Mahmudul Haque granted the remand on Tuesday following a five-day request by the investigating officer.
The accused, Mujibur Rahman, 40, and Rifat Mia, 18, hail from Trishal upazila in Mymensingh district.
The incident occurred on November 27, when Hasnat and Sarjis, accompanied by a convoy, were returning from the burial of slain lawyer Saiful Islam in Lohagara upazila. Their convoy included 12 motorcycles, two cars and a Pajero.
Around 7:30 PM, a truck collided with a car in the convoy near Chattogram, causing severe damage to the vehicle's front end. Although no injuries were reported, the incident prompted a case, leading to the remand of the suspects for further investigation.
Authorities are probing whether the collision was accidental or a deliberate attack.
