Titas Gas authorities conducted a day-long operation in Savar's Hemayetpur area on Tuesday, disconnecting over 300 illegal gas connections, including those at a washing factory and various residences.

The operation also imposed a fine of Tk 100,000 on Faiza Washing Factory for illegal gas usage.

The operation, led by Executive Magistrate Milton Roy of the Ministry of Energy, targeted Joynabari and Natunpara areas. Authorities dismantled illegal risers, burners and pipelines spanning approximately two kilometers, seizing substandard pipes used for the connections.

Magistrate Milton Roy stated, "Gas is a valuable national resource and it is everyone's responsibility to protect it. Regular operations are being conducted to curb illegal gas usage and offenders will continue to face fines and imprisonment as necessary."

Local residents praised the move, highlighting the prolonged inconvenience caused to legal consumers due to the illegal connections. Many called for stricter measures to deter such activities in the future.

Titas Gas reaffirmed its commitment to conducting similar operations in the future to ensure efficient and lawful use of the nation's gas resources.
