A school student was killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in Tengra area of Sreepur upazila in Gazipur on Wednesday.
The accident occurred on Wednesday morning along the Tengra-Jaina Bazar regional road.
The victim, Sabbir Hossain, 16, was son of Md. Sohel Mia and a resident of Bekasahara village in the upazila. He was a student at Nawab Ali Adarsha High School.
According to locals and family members, Sabbir and his friend Adil set out on a motorcycle to a nearby area to enjoy fresh date juice. While riding through Tengra, their motorcycle collided with another coming from the opposite direction. Sabbir died on the spot and Adil was injured.
Adil was rescued and initially taken to Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex but later referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for further treatment.
Sreepur Police Station officer-in-charge Joynal Abedin Mondal confirmed the incident and stated that legal proceedings are underway.
