Driver killed as car overturns into ditch in Gopalganj

A private car driver was killed as he lost control over his vehicle and fell into a roadside ditch at Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj district on late Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Palash Molla, 36, son of Siddiqur Rahman Molla and a resident of Dakshin Fukhra village in the same upazila.

According to Kashiani Fire Service Department Duty Officer Monibor Rahman, the accident occurred around 1 AM on Thursday. The car, traveling from Dakshin Fukhra village towards the highway via Milton Bazar, veered off the road near Delwar Hossain Sheikh's house and plunged into a ditch.  

Locals quickly responded to the incident, breaking the front windshield to rescue the driver. Fire service personnel arrived soon after and rushed the severely injured driver to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.  

Police have stated that the body will be handed over to the family after completing legal formalities.
