3 held over killing RMG worker in Savar

Police have arrested three suspects allegedly for stabbing a garments worker to death in Savar's Ashulia union on Friday.

Ashulia Police Station sub-inspector Jasim Uddin confirmed the detention on Saturday morning, adding that they were detained for primary questoning.

The incident took place at around 9 PM on Friday at Bhadail Southwest para area in the union.

The victim was identified as Shimul Sardar Abir, 28, son of Md Mansur Sardar from Lebugati area under Jashore's Abhaynagar upazila.

According to locals, Shimul worked in a garments factory at Jamgara area. At the time of the incident, Shimul was standing in a field at the area, when a group of miscreants attacked him with a sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rescued him and took to the nearby hospital where the physicians declared him dead.

SI Jasim Uddin said that the body was recovered and sent to Shaheed Suharawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

"Investigation is ongoing to unveil the actual reason behind the incident and legal actions will be taken later," added the sub-inspector.
