Youth dies after falling into abandoned well in Naogaon

The incident took place around 8 AM in Chakdeulia field near Hatheoir village in the upazila. 

The deceased, Selim Reza, 28, was son of Nurul Islam, a resident of the same village under Paranpur union.

According to locals, a deep tube well had recently been re-bored in the field next to the victim's home. After the work was completed, some sand remained unused and was left in the area. While attempting to collect the sand in sacks to take it home, Selim accidentally stepped into the deep pit of the abandoned well.

Upon receiving the news, a rescue team from Niamatpur Fire Service spent over four and a half hours recovering Selim's body from the well.

The Niamatpur Fire Service Station in-charge Sahadat Hossain confirmed that Selim's body was retrieved from a pit approximately 50 feet deep using an excavator. 

The body was later handed over to the Niamatpur Police Station, confirmed investigation officer, Babul Chandra, adding that after completing the necessary legal procedures, the body was handed over to his family.
