Handcuffed suspect snatched from police in Bogura

A handcuffed suspect allegedly was forcibly snatched from police custody by a group of locals at Shibganj upazila in Bogura. 

The incident occurred on Friday evening at Jabaripur bazaar area under Mokamtola union of the upazila.  

Faruk Hossain, 38, a resident of Jabaripur village, is a former general secretary of Mokamtola Union Awami League and an accused in cases related to attacks on Anti-discrimination Student Movement.  

Shibganj Police Station officer-in-charge Abdul Hannan confirmed the incident, adding,"Acting on a tip-off, police went to Jabaripur Bazar to arrest Faruk. While attempting to handcuff him, a group of locals intervened and snatched him away." 

The handcuffs were later recovered and efforts are underway to apprehend the escaped suspect, said OC Abdul Hannan.
