30 injured in clashes between 2 factions in Kuakata

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Golbunia area near Ramai Khal.  

According to police and local sources, many locals in the area depend on fishing in the Rabnabad River for their livelihood. However, tensions have been brewing as Mahatab Mia, General Secretary of Jubo Dal ward no. 1 unit, installed extensive fishing nets in the river, hindering other fishermen from catching fish.  

The conflict escalated when Mahatab Mia and BNP leader Swapan Khan were allegedly attacked on Friday evening while traveling back to Champapur. This morning, Faisal Hawlader, former president of local Chhatra Dal unit, reportedly assaulted Rajmoni, General Secretary of the ward no. 3 Krishak Dal unit.  

The situation spiraled out of control by midday when Mahatab Mia's faction clashed with Faisal Munshi's group, led by Masum Billah, President of Union BNP.  

Among the injured, 10 were admitted to Kalapara Hospital while six were transferred to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital for further treatment. Others received local medical attention.  

Kalapara Police Station officer-in-charge Md Jewel Islam confirmed the incident, stating, "We have not yet received a written complaint. Legal action will be taken upon receiving one."
