College student dies being stabbed by muggers in N'ganj

A college student succumbed to injuries inflicted by muggers who stabbed him during a robbery in Narayanganj. 

The incident occurred early Thursday morning (December 12) near Minnat Ali Mazar in the Deobhog area of Narayanganj.

The victim, Shimanto, 20, a second-year honors student at a private college in Dhaka and a resident of the Deobhog Pakkha Road area, passed away on Saturday night at around 10:15 PM while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed his father, Haji Alam Chan.  

According to the father, Shimanto was on his way to college when muggers stopped him near Minnat Ali Mazar, attempting to snatch his bag and mobile phone. When he resisted, the muggers stabbed him multiple times in the head, abdomen, and leg. Local residents and family members rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he fought for his life for two days before passing away.  

Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Nasir stated that police visited the crime scene immediately after receiving the report. However, the family has not yet filed a formal complaint. 

The father had previously indicated his intention to file a complaint, and police investigations are ongoing. "We are conducting operations to apprehend those involved in the incident," the OC said.
