A teenager was killed after a speeding truck ran over his motorcycle at Chatkhil upazila in Noakhali district on Sunday.
The deceased, Jiharul Islam Rahul, 17, was son of Nurul Islam Khokon from South Dashgaria village in the upazila. He was an electrician by profession.
The accident occurred around 10 AM on Sunday near Jahangir Tower in Chatkhil Bazar on the Dhaka-Ramganj regional highway.
According to locals, Rahul was heading toward Chatkhil Bazar from Halima Dighi Par riding his cousin's motorcycle. Upon reaching the Jahangir Tower area, a truck loaded with cattle struck their motorcycle from behind. Rahul was thrown onto the road and the truck ran over him, killing him instantly.
Chatkhil Police Station inspector (investigation) Md. Abdus Sultan said, "The truck involved in the accident has been taken into police custody. However, the driver is on the run. Further legal action will be taken once a written complaint is received."
