A woman was brutally stabbed to death reportedly by her brother-in-law in Noakhali's Begumganj on Tuesday morning.

The incident, which also left the victim's father-in-law seriously injured, took place at Hajipur area under Choumuhani municipality.
The victim, Shahnaz Akter Pinky, 35, was wife of Kuwait expatriate Jahangir Alam, and a mother of two sons. Meanwhile, the accused, Saiful Islam, also known as Khaled, 30, is a relative and resident of the same household.

According to family members, Khaled had been harassing Pinky for over a year. A year ago, when Pinky's mobile phone broke, she entrusted Khaled with repairing it. During that time, Khaled allegedly copied personal photos and videos sent by Pinky's husband and used them to blackmail her.

Over time, he extorted seven lakh taka from her and attempted to force her into a physical relationship. Pinky resisted, filed a legal complaint and refused further extortion demands. Later, on Tuesday morning, Pinky was walking with her father-in-law, Rezaul Haque, 72, to her parents' house when Khaled intercepted them on the street. After a brief altercation, Khaled stabbed Pinky repeatedly, killing her on the spot. When Rezaul tried to protect her, he was also attacked and seriously injured.

Both victims were taken to the nearby hospital where doctors declared Pinky dead. Rezaul is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.

Begumganj Police Station officer-in-charge Liton Dewan confirmed the incident, stating that police are investigating the case and further legal actions will be taken based on the findings and the family's formal complaint.
