Elderly man found dead in Sherpur farmland

Police recovered the body of an elderly man from a farmland at Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur on Tuesday afternoon. 

The body was found at Rasaitala Shingmari village under Kakarkandi union, with a pesticide bottle nearby.  

The deceased was identified as Abubakkar Siddique, 62, son of Tamiz Uddin from Palashia village in the same upazila, according to police sources.  

Assistant Police Superintendent (Nalitabari Circle), Md. Didarul Alam, confirmed the incident, stating, "A pesticide bottle was found beside the body suggesting the possibility of death by pesticide ingestion. However, the exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy."  

The investigation is ongoing to uncover further details surrounding the incident, added the police official.
