A young man was allegedly killed by his elder brother over a longstanding land dispute at Purbadhala upazila in Netrokona on Wednesday.
The incident took place on Wednesday morning around 9:00 AM.
The deceased, Afzal Hossain Hridoy, 28, was son of late Hasen Ali and a resident of Jamtala area in upazila sadar while the accused is his elder brother Iqbal.
According to reports, the brothers had been in conflict over their inherited property for an extended period. The dispute escalated, leading Iqbal to plan the attack with a sharp weapon. On Thursday morning, Iqbal fatally stabbed Hridoy in the chest and forehead during an argument.
Locals rushed Hridoy to Purbadhala Upazila Health Complex where the attending doctor declared him dead.
Purbadhala Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Riad Mahmud confirmed the incident and stated that the accused Iqbal fled the scene immediately after the scene. He also assured that legal action is being taken to apprehend him.
