International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day were celebrated at Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar district on Wednesday.
The observance was organized by the Upazila Administration and included a rally and a discussion meeting.
Following the event, a discussion meeting was held at the Upazila Parishad conference room which was presided over by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Mohiuddin.
Speakers at the event included Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Jasim Uddin, Academic Supervisor of the Upazila Secondary Education Office Md. Shafiqul Islam, senior journalist Azizul Islam, BRAC Area Manager Md. Jalilur Rahman, and journalists Nazmul Bari Sohel, Mahfuz Shakil, S.R. Oni Chowdhury, and Mohiuddin Ripon, among others. Migrant worker Shah Alam also shared his experiences.
In their speeches, participants emphasized the vital contribution of Bangladeshi migrants to the country's development and highlighted the importance of raising awareness about safe migration practices.
The event was attended by officials from various departments of the Upazila Administration.
