Two individuals were killed in separate road accidents at Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj district.
The incidents occurred on Friday afternoon on the Baaspur-Joynagar regional road and Thursday night on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Fukra.
Kashiani Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Shafiuddin Khan confirmed the incidents.
The deceased were identified as Md. Israfil Molla, 40, son of Jalal Matobbor of Kharakandi village in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur, and Iyar Molla, 60, son of Lal Mia Molla from South Fukra village in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj.
According to OC Shafiuddin, Israfil Molla, a garment trader, was traveling from Baaspur to Joynagar on a battery-powered van when it collided head-on with a brick-laden trolley coming from the opposite direction. Israfil died on the spot.
Police recovered the body and further legal action will be taken based on a complaint filed by the victim's wife.
In the other incident, Iyar Molla's nephew, Md. Hasan, said that on Thursday night, a passenger bus struck a van near Fukra market on the Dhaka-Khulna highway. The collision caused Iyar Molla, the van driver, to be critically injured.
He was rushed to Gopalganj General Hospital and later referred to Dhaka where he succumbed to his injuries en route.
Investigations are ongoing in both cases, added the police sources.
