Child dies in Ukhiya Rohingya camp landslide

A landslide in Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar left a child dead and two others injured on Friday.

The incident occurred near the border of Camp 14 and Camp 15 in Palongkhali union in the upazila.  
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Arif Hossain confirmed the fatality. 

The deceased, Syed Ullah, 11, was son of Imam Hossain and lived in Block F/16 of Camp 15. 

Meanwhile, the injured are Syed Noor, 15, and Enayetur Rahman, 14, both residing in Camp 14.  

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Abdul Hadi of 8th Armed Police Battalion (APBn), the children were playing near the hillside adjacent to Blocks D/03 of Camp 14 and D/12 of Camp 15 when the landslide occurred around 11:30 AM.  

Emergency responders, including APBn officials, members of Fire Service and Civil Defence, and Rohingya volunteers, rushed to the scene to rescue the children. 

They were taken to Jamtoli MSF Hospital where doctors declared Syed Ullah dead. The injured children are receiving treatment at the hospital.
