Robbery on moving passenger bus in Savar

A robbery took place on a moving passenger bus on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Savar, leaving at least four passengers injured. 

The incident took place on Friday evening at around 6:30 PM near the BPTC gate on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway.

According to passengers and police, the robbery took place when a passenger bus of 'Welcome Paribahan' was heading from Savar to Chandra. As the bus passed the Radio Colony area, three members of a robbery gang, disguised as passengers, began attacking fellow passengers, with knives and physically assaulting others. They threatened the passengers' lives and robbed them of mobile phones, cash, and other valuables. 

The robbers then got off the bus in front of the BPTC gate and fled the scene. Meanwhile, the injured were rescued and taken to various hospitals for treatment. 

One of the injured passengers, Sultan Mahmud, shared that the robbers started by stabbing several passengers and stealing their mobile phones and cash. 

After the robbers left, the injured passengers were taken to Enam Medical College Hospital and other facilities. 

Following the incident, the passengers, including university students, beat up the bus driver and helper, handing them over to the police.

Savar Highway Police Station officer-in-charge Sowgatul Alam confirmed the robbery and said that Ashulia police had detained several individuals for questioning in this regard.
