A child was killed after a covered van rammed him at Dowarabazar upazila in Suamganj district on Saturday.
The incident took place around 11 AM at Choumuna intersection under Dohalia union of the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Siam Ahmed, 7, son of Ajir Uddin and a resident of Choumuna village under the same union.
According to locals and police sources, a speeding covered van from Chatak hit the child upon reaching the intersection. Siam sustained severe head injuries at that time. Later, he succumbed to his injuries en route to the nearby hospital.
However, locals apprehended the van driver, helper and handed them over to Dowarabazar Police Station.
Officer-in-charge of the police station Shamsuddin Khan confirmed the incident and detention.
