2 motorcyclists killed in Gazipur road crash

Two motorcyclists were killed in a road accident in Gazipur's Shreepur on Saturday. 

The incident occurred around 1:30 PM on the Mawna-Kaliakoir regional road near Kawran Bazar. 
Of the victims, one was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 45, from Kangsya village at Jhinaigati upazila in Sherpur district. He was a contractor and lived with his family in Gazipur's Joydebpur upazila. The identity of the second victim is yet to be ascertained. 

Shafiqul's wife, Shirina Akhter, mentioned that her husband had left their home in Joydebpur in the morning to visit a madrasa site at Kalihati area in Kaliakoir, when the accident occurred.

Confirming the incident, Mawna Police Outpost in charge sub-inspector Mohammad Kuddus Mirdha said that the truck was traveling from Mawna to Kaliakoir when the motorcyclists attempted to overtake it and collided with its side, resulting in their instant deaths. 

The truck driver has been detained and the vehicle has been seized for further investigation, added the police official.
