Fire breaks out in Gazipur factory

A fire broke out at a button manufacturing factory at Bhangnahati area in Gazipur's Sreepur upazila on Sunday.

The fire started at around 1:45 PM and engfulfed the adjacent area soon.
Gazipur Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Director Mohammad Al Mamun confirmed the incident, adding that on information, four firefighting units rushed to the spot and three more units joined later to douse the flame.

According to locals, they heard a sound of explosions from the spot possibly due to presence of chemicals at the factory. Smoke billowing from the factory covered the whole area, creating panic among people.

However, what caused the fire could not be known immediately.

The firefighters are struggling to extinguish the blaze due to lack of water sources in the area.
