Elderly woman crushed under train in Lalmonirhat

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon near Namuri Railway Station in the upazila.

The identity of the deceased, aged around 65, could not be ascertained yet.

Local sources reported that the Kurtoya Express, which had departed from Lalmonirhat and was heading towards Burimari, passed the Namuri station when the elderly woman was struck by the train. She died instantly at the scene. No one at the location was able to identify the woman at the time of the incident.

Palashi Union Parishad chairman Alaul Islam Fatemi Pavel confirmed the incident, adding that efforts are underway to identify the victim.
