Fire breaks out at Gazipur factory warehouse

A fire broke out in a warehouse of Knit Asia Limited at Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur on Monday afternoon.  

The incident occurred around 2:45 PM in the factory's warehouse in Safipur Bazaar. 

Workers first noticed black smoke rising from the storage area, which quickly escalated into a blaze, engulfing the entire warehouse filled with textile scraps.  

Initially, the fire safety team of the nearby Lease Fashion Limited attempted to control the fire using water hoses. Shortly after, four fire service units from Kaliakoir and Konabari Fire Service Civil Defence Station arrived at the scene and managed to bring the fire under control within an hour of effort.  

Kaliakoir Fire Station officer Iftekhar Hossain Raihan Chowdhury confirmed that the fire was contained by 3:45 PM, adding "The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined."  

No injuries were reported and further investigations are underway to assess the cause and the total losses.
