Husband 'beats wife to death' over extramarital affair in Madaripur

The victim, identified as Smriti Rani Mondal, 30, was daughter of Brindavan Mondal from Charkomalapur village in Umedpur union. 

The incident occurred on Monday around 10:30 AM in Daulatpur village of Sannyasichar union in the upazila.  

According to the victim's family and local residents, Smriti and her husband, Rinoy Malo, frequently quarreled over Rinoy's alleged extramarital relationship with a woman from a neighboring house. On the morning of the incident, a heated dispute reportedly escalated into physical violence.  

Smriti Rani Mondal was allegedly beaten severely and later found hanging from a ceiling fan in the house. Locals rushed her to the Shibchar Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared her dead. 

Rinoy Malo and other individuals fled the scene shortly after the incident.  

Smriti's father, Brindavan Mondal, accused Rinoy of murder, stating, "Rinoy had an affair with a woman from the neighboring house. He killed my daughter by brutally beating her. I demand justice for my daughter's murder."  

Shibchar Police Station officer-in-charge Mokhtar Hossain, confirmed the incident and said, "We visited the scene and recovered the body, which has been sent to Madaripur Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. Preliminary investigations revealed multiple injury marks on the body."  

The police are continuing their investigation and searching for the absconding husband and other individuals linked to the incident, added the OC.
