Wife dies of shock after husband's sudden demise in Barisal

A woman died of shock within 40 minutes of hearing the news of her husband's sudden death at Agailjhara upazila in Barisal district on Monday.

The incident took place on Monday morning at Purba Sujonkathi village under Goilla union in the upazila.
 
Shamsul Haque Sardar, 74, a respected freedom fighter and businessman from Agailjhara Sadar bazaar, had been suffering from a prolonged illness and passed away at 8:40 AM on Monday. 

The news of his death deeply affected his family and particularly his wife, Anwara Begum, 67, a retired government primary school teacher, was overcome with grief. Around 40 minutes after hearing of her husband's passing, she collapsed and was rushed to Agailjhara Upazila Health Complex where she was declared dead by the attending doctor Dr Raihan Alam.

Following the deaths, Shamsul Haque Sardar was laid to rest with full state honors after his funeral prayers at a local mosque. His wife, Anwara Begum, was buried beside him in the family graveyard.

Their elder son, Md. Saiful Islam Sardar, 42, expressed his sorrow, saying, "Although my father had been unwell for some time, the sudden loss of both my parents is incomprehensible."

The family, along with the local community, is in mourning over the loss of these two respected individuals.
