Housewife murder case in Noakhali: Brother-in-law arrested

Following the arrest, he was produced before Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday. 

The victim, Shahinaz Akter Pinky, 30, was a mother of two and wife of Jahangir Alam, a Kuwait expatriate. She lived in Hajipur, a neighborhood in Begumganj. The accused Khaled, a distant brother-in-law and neighbor of the same area.

According to reports, the trouble began about a year ago when Pinky's mobile phone broke and she asked Khaled to repair it. Khaled allegedly misused the device by retrieving private photos and videos sent to her husband. Khaled then blackmailed Pinky, extorting seven lakh Taka and attempting to force her into an extramarital relationship.  

When she resisted further demands, Khaled attacked her on December 17, stabbing her to death on a road near their neighborhood. The suspect also assaulted Pinky's father-in-law, Rezaul Haque, injuring him severely.

After committing the crime, Khaled fled to Feni and then sought refuge in Dhaka, joining a Tabligh Jamaat group at Kakrail Mosque to evade capture. Following three days in Dhaka, he moved to Moulvibazar in Narsingdi to continue hiding. 

However, with the help of technology, Begumganj police tracked Khaled's location. He was arrested on Monday after completing his Tabligh activities in a mosque in the area.  

Noakhali Superintendent of Police Md. Abdullah Al Faruk confirmed the arrest, stating, "The accused has been presented before Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court. Efforts are underway to apprehend other suspects involved in the case."
