Trade activities between Bangladesh and India through the Hili land port in Dinajpur were temporarily suspended on Wednesday to mark Christmas Day.

Shahinur Islam, General Secretary of the Hili Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agents Association, confirmed that traders from both countries mutually agreed to pause export and import activities in observance of the public holiday.

In addition to the halt in trade, loading and unloading operations within the port premises were also suspended for the day. However, Shahinur Islam assured that business activities would resume as usual from Thursday.

Despite the trade suspension, Hili Immigration Checkpost Officer-in-Charge Ariful Islam stated that the movement of travelers with valid documents, including passports, continued uninterrupted, as this was not affected by the port's operational pause.
