The incident occurred at Toknagar village under Tok union of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as AKM Abu Taher, 56.

According to locals, a long-standing dispute over property boundaries existed between Abu Taher and his younger brother, Abul Kashem. On January 1, 2023, the victim had filed a written complaint with Kapasia police regarding the issue. On Friday, tensions escalated when Kashem began cutting down a tree on the disputed boundary.
